We are flying to the United States of America!

The Bratislava Boys Choir’s 40th anniversary includes a very special moment. After returning to the Slovak National Theatre, Slovak Philharmonic and performing concerts for a variety of Slovakia’s cities, the ensemble flies off to tour the United States May 5th-17th, 2022.
“We are overjoyed that after the pandemic we could get in touch with our international partners and again present the music from Slovakia to audiences in the United States, offering a special experience, hopefully lasting a lifetime,” says the ensemble’s founding consuctor Magdaléna Rovňáková
30 choir members take part in the tour alongside their conductors Magdaléna Rovňáková and Gabriel Rovňák Jr., soloist and vocal coach Miriam Garajová as well as pianist Martin Hríň. The ensemble will tour to Washington D.C., New York, Annapolis, Cumberland, Kingston and Scranton.

The choir arrives in the United States with a broad repertoire. “We are primarily bringing music from Slovakia including works by Eugen Suchoň, Miroslav Kroupa, Viliam Gräffinger, Milan Novák and others. We will also present pieces from W.A.Mozart, G. Rossini, F. Schubert and J. Rutter. As usual, we go on tour with music which is well-known to local audiences. For this tour we prepared African-American spirituals,“ says conductor Gabriel Rovňák Jr.
Other than performing concerts, the boys very much look forward to a rich sightseeing program. They will visit the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C., the headquarters of the United Nations in New York, the Rockefeller Center as well as attend a Broadway musical.
